This watch comes with the original box, papers and Patek certificate. THE PATEK PHILIPPE NAUTILUS The famous watch designer Gérald Genta designed this legendary sports watch for Patek Philippe in 1976; apparently he was inspired by the shape of a ship's porthole. The Jumbo case is actually quite large but it's so thin and the integrated bracelet is so well designed that it magically ‘wears' much smaller. In November 2006 the entire Nautilus family was replaced by Patek Philippe, with four new models introduced at a Geneva party to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the model. VERY RARE EXAMPLE The 5711/1A was originally launched in 2006 with Patek Philippe's in-house full-rotor automatic Calibre 315 SC but within six months this was quickly replaced with the new Cal. 324 SC. No one quite knows why this happened, it was thought the Cal. 324 was not yet ready, but Patek couldn't miss the Nov. 2006 deadline so they brought out the 5711 with their original Cal. 315SC movement, replacing it when the newer movements became available. Because the Cal. 315SC was replaced within 6 months of production, examples like the present watch, with the cal. 315, are much rarer than all the subsequent examples.
